Can I walk with you?

I was walking to work one day and there was a boy on a bike and he asked me where Dunkin' Doughnuts was. I was new to the area, but I went on a walk the day before and I was so excited that I could tell him exactly where it was and how to get there! He said thanks and then asked me were I was headed. I usually don't give out personal information to strangers and I was heading to work. Did I want him to know where I work? Would he become a crazy stalker or harass me in some way? Well, he looked safe enough and I didn't get a bad vibe from him so what the heck? I was single and he was cute! So I told him how it was my first day at work at this Panera Bread. I have worked for the company for over a year now, but I just moved to this area so this was my first day but not my first day. =]
I was shocked with what he said next.
"Can I walk with you?"
"It's about a half hour walk.... but you're more than welcome to."
"I can walk some of the way. I live in Hooksett and it's about a 40 minute bike ride from here."
"Ok, thats fine." =]

We had a quite enjoyable conversation and it was so enjoyable that he ended up walking me 98% of the way! I was sad to see him ride off on his bike.

I never did see him again. No, he didn't become a crazy stalker, he just became a memory. I had almost forgotten about him till just now.
I was walking somewhere and there was a guy that was also cute and he was lost and needed directions. So I told him where to go, and I told him that I was heading that way too. But this time I was not so shocked when he asked,
"Can I walk with you?"
"Sure." I said. After all, again I didn't get a bad vibe.

We also had quite an enjoyable conversation and again I was sad when it was time to say good bye.

People come and go, but the memory is always there. These two men just wanted a walk with me, and in the end, I enjoyed the walks, got good memories, and felt pretty and special. I just hope that these men know that for at least a moment, they made me happy, as they asked,
"Can I walk with you?"
